Although I’ve done a resume in the past, I refine old things and learned new things. While searching for my sample template I saw how creative you can be with a resume rather than going the traditional route. Also I learned that a resume is not a process you can do in one day and that you have to continue adding information as you progress in your career. An old thing that was refined is how wordy you have to be when describing your professional experience and your objective because you’re not there to represent yourself the paper is. To conclude, this week lesson was resourceful

In the next four years I plan to use the IUP libraries for a prime resource for my classes in the future. Also I plan to utilize the quiet environment while focusing on work and studying for exams. Ten to twenty years from now I see the libraries evolving to fit the new era and to revolve old techniques such as micro-fiche so they will not be forgotten. Lastly, I see libraries incorporating more modern literacy applications like lending out e-book format books rather than book form so it can be downloaded on Kindle/Nook to make an enjoyable experience.

2/20-2/24
While reading the article “Library Place”, I learn that the reason the library was used then has evolved into something modern. However, the library has no choice to adapt with our new fixation of getting information online instead of using a book. The library now is look at as a landmark with architecture riches and caffeinated people getting their daily fix. Also the people who are head of libraries are thinking of marketing techniques that you will never think they use to keep people to come back for the experience again. A great emphasis that is cited in this article is “Experience”. This experience doesn’t necessarily have to involve books the options are greater than before.

In this week of Information Access in the Digital Age, I learned how to do advance Google searches and about different types of libraries. During the Google worksheet I learned if you limit your search to a specific domain you would get more scholarly information other than random hits that has that selected title in its page. Also, I learned that there several types of libraries Public, Elementary, Special Libraries, and Academic Libraries. In addition, I learned that IUP mission is to provide related materials to your classes and meet research needs. Clearly this week I learned things that will help me gain success in the long run.

In the duration of this week lecture and online class I learned the myths that surround us today. Such as the major your currently undertaking does not equate to a successful job or career. Usually college students change their plans such as changing their major or going another route with their degree. Also I learned that coming into college undecided doesn’t make you any less than those who are declared. Lastly, I learned that informed of the things that surround you can be a lifelong attribute.

Week 1-2
In this week two in LIBR 251, I learned what it means to be an information literate individual is. Being Information literate will help you recognize what information you need and arm you with the ability to access other resources other than Google for information. Also in the duration of this week I got familiar with my career options in Communications and what training I will need to have success in this career field. Lastly, I read on what fields will pay more and what is the percentage of lay-off in that particular career like an editor. In any case, this week gave me more emphasis on which choices I should make when they come career wise.
